Lilac - Superba Littleleaf

Superba Littleleaf Lilac, Syringa microphylla 'Superba', is an attractive shrub that is covered with single, deep pink flowers in May-June. The clean, small leaves are mildew resistant, and this broad spreading shrub grows twice as wide as tall. It is widely used as a foundation plant in the garden and group plantings, also for informal or formal hedges, and as a specimen shrub. It is easily grown in average, medium, well-drained soil in full sun. It tolerates light shade, but best bloom quality and disease resistance occur in full sun. Superba Littleleaf prefers rich, moist, neutral soils. It should be pruned as needed immediately after flowering. Superba Littleleaf is a dense, compact, mounded, spreading, deciduous, small-leaved shrub that grows to 6 feet tall and up to 12 feet wide. It is resistant to the common lilac diseases, especially powdery mildew. ... get more information

Dogwood - Greytwig It grows 10-15' tall and features white flowers borne in terminal racemes (hence the species name of racemosa) in late spring and grayish-green, elliptic to lance-shaped leaves (2-4" long). Foliage turns an interesting dusky purplish red in fall. Red stem color is more easily seen after the fruits are gone, and red color often persists into early winter. Also effective in shrub borders, along streams or ponds or near buildings or when planted as a screen. Can be particularly useful because of its ability to grow in poor soils. Easily grown in average, medium wet, well-drained soil in full sun to part shade.
