Lilac - Sensation

Sensation Lilac, Syringa vulgaris 'Sensation', is an eye-catching French Hybrid Lilac that has single, fragrant, deep purple flowers that are bordered with a distinctive white edge. The scent is true lilac and draws lots of attention when in bloom during May. The blooms are complemented by heart-shaped foliage. Sensation Lilac adds a distinctive flair to cut flower bouquets. It grows 8-10 feet tall and 8-12 feet wide. It prefers full sun, good drainage and air circulation. If one removes flowers as they fade, as well as older wood and suckers, it will improve the plants appearance and flower production. Sensation Lilac can be used in many situations, including shrub borders, informal hedges and perennial borders. Being very showy and extremely fragrant, it makes a wonderful screen or border specimen. ... additional info

Red Flowering Quince The Red Flowering Quince, Chaenomeles speciosa, is valued for its spring flowers. The single or double rose like flowers emerge in clusters of 2–4, often before leaves develop. The oblong, serrated foliage opens bronze red and fades to a glossy dark green. Cut branches with swollen flower buds may be forced indoors, making a welcomed winter flower arrangement. To prune, remove only crossing, diseased or broken branches. Flowering quince should never be sheared.
