Ginger - Wild The Asarum American Ginger, 'Asarum canadense 'American Ginger', is a wonderful ground cover that is grown for its foliage rather than it's flower. It has a plant height of 6-8” and is extremely heat tolerant. Most of the flowers are hidden by the heart-shaped leaves that are produced. The foliage is shinny at the surface and the leaf stem is hairy at the base. ‘American Ginger’ will do wonderful in rock gardens or as a border. Try mixing colors of other groundcovers with ‘American Ginger’ such as Ajuga ‘Chocolate Chip’ or Houttuynia ‘Chameleon’.
