Gaura - Crimson Butterflies
The Gaura Crimson Butterflies, 'Gaura lindheimeri', has numerous butterfly-shaped hot pink flowers that bloom from late spring to early summer. The dark crimson foliage is also one not to be missed. With a plant height of 18” and a width of 24-36”, it is definite addition to any perennial garden. ‘Crimson Butterflies’ Gaura requires full sun in a well-drained area with average to rich soil and is very drought tolerant. A major attraction to butterflies, it continues to bloom through the first hard frosts of autumn into winter. ‘Crimson Butterflies’ looks great on a rocky ledge, near bricks and stones, near Sedum 'Autumn Joy' or small dahlias. Hollyhock - Chater's Red The Chater's Red Hollyhock, 'Alcea rosea', has a large ruffled ball-shaped red flower. Although they are short lived, they reseed themselves. Alcea is a wonderful plant near the back of the border, working great along walls or fences. They are best planted in full sun in a well-drained area. |
