These beauties make a unique addition to any combination. They’re heat-tolerant, so they won’t shy away from hot summer conditions and full sun. Daisy's require a sunny spot with fertile, well-drained soil and should be kept well watered in the summer. Daisy's may be used as a cut flower and they are excellent in window boxes, pots, and rock gardens. The daisy is attractive to bees, butterflies and/or birds, plus they are resistant to deer. These daisys are winter hardy to USDA Zones 10-11 and they are grown as an annual in other cooler climatic zones. Deadhead spent flowers to encourage additional bloom. Coleus - Sky Fire The Coleus Sky Fire, 'Coleus hybrid', has intense purple and scarlet foliage with ruffled brilliant lime green edges. The brilliant colors explode in sunny locations. Coleus plants are durable and easy to grow. Frost will cause them to die immediately. Coleus plants are so colorful that many people keep them and use them as a house plant. Flower buds should be pinched off as soon as they develop. If a coleus plant is allowed to seed, it has completed its life cycle and will die. Coleus must have good soil drainage. Poorly drained soils and excessive watering will damage coleus. For zones 10-11, this plant can also be a perennial. |
